A “five-claw” model which is based on the idea of riskrnprofile in NASA, common risk sources of equipmentrndevelopment in GJB 5852-2006 and “nine-new” analysisrnmethod in CASC is put forward. The “five-claw” riskrnassessment model uses design & test, manufacturing,rnbasic parts & general parts to describe aerospacernprojects’ risk. In order to assess the extent of a riskrndescribed by this new model, a semi-quantitative methodrnis put forward. It could avoid lacking objectivity ofrnqualitative method and the difficulty in data-obtaining ofrnquantitative method. Although the model and methodrnpresent in this paper may not be fully practical in majorrnaerospace projects, it just provides a new idea for riskrnassessment during the development of major aerospacernprojects
