The ecological characteristics and economic values of forage type mulberry (Morus alba L. ) are briefly discussed in this paper. The forage type mulberry can survive under a wide range of environmental conditions and could possibly play an important role in environmental improvement in northern China. It also has a high nutrient content and high palatability as feed for livestock and poultry. The mulberry leaf may be served to goat, sheep and rabbit as a main forage. The mulberry leaf is predicted to have a huge potential as a forage resources.
