This paper is the first part of the on-going research on an anchorage mechanism of FRP tendons using highly expansive material for anchoring. The carbon fiber reinforcing plastics (CFRP), aramid fiber reinforced plastics (AFRP) and conventional steel tendons are used for this experimental and analytical studies. This report is focused on CFRP only. At low level prestressing, the analytical and experimental data on CFRP showed similarity but not at high levels. The repeated loading test results show that anchors using highly expansive material have less stress concentration than the one with epoxy resin.
