摘要

The strengthening of a reinforced concrete beam in situ by externally bonded fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) appears to be a feasible way of increasing the capacity and the stiffness of existing structures. A series of 6 150 × 250 × 2300mm beams strengthened with CFRP plates were tested up to failure under four-point bending.The tests were divided into three series, in each series, different methods of plate bonding were used. To evaluate the level of interface performance and to determine the mechanical properties of the concrete/ adhesive/plate interface, a single-lap specimen was used. To study the influence of the strengthening method on the ultimate capacity and the failure mode, the moment-curvature curves were measured and compared with the predicated values. Finally, this paper also suggests one tentative design criteria to ensure full flexural capacity and ductile failure of plated beams.
