Aiming at a kind of key equipment in the metal machining and weld machining, namely the multi-station and multi-fixture machining center, the study on its man-hour calculation was presented to improve the accuracy in man-hour calculation in the manufacturing enterprises. The characteristics of the machining center were analyzed and then the corresponding man-hour calculation models were established. The presented models fully took the practical production situation, manual time and parallel time between man and machine into account and made the product man-hour more accurate and feasible. A primitive operation decomposition method to solve the difficulty in calculating the manual time was presented, the definitions and decomposition rules were proposed, and the familiar primitive operations of motorcar metal machining and weld machining were defined and analyzed. The presented models simplify the man-hour establishing process; realize the rapid and accurate man-hour calculation. Finally, a case study on a motorcar manufacturing company verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the presented man-hour calculation system.
