Phylogenetic Analysis of Ixeris and Its Allied Genera

In order to elucidate whether the genera keris and keridium and Crepidiastrum are monophyletic and to examine intergeneric relationships of keris and its allied genera, the restriction fragments length polymorphism (RFLPs) of PCR amplified fragment was applied. PCR-amplified RFLPs of 29 species including most of the taxa were compared. The digestion with eight restriction enzymes resulted in 175 restriction sites. Among them, the interspecific variable sites were counted 65 and 23 of them were phylogenetically informative. Wagner parsimony analysis resulted in 136 equal parsimony trees. The cladogram requires 116trees steps for the 175site mutations included in the data set. The consistency index of these trees was 0.735. The consensus treefrom one hundred bootstrap replicates was divided into four clades. The results gave support to the generic concept of Pak and Kawano, which was mainly based on the chromosome and achenes characters.
