This paper presents an equation for the prediction of the ultimate stress in the tendon in posttensionedrnconcrete beams.The equation is derived from an analytical model that assumes the girder and unbondedrnpost-tensioned tendon (internally or externally) are linked at the holding point by a rigid link. Results arerncompared to experimental data from 25 test beams as well as available test data available in the literature. Resultsrnindicate that, in comparison with the ACI 318-08 equation, the presented equation is versatile, rational, andrnaccurate in predicting the tendon stress at ultimate for beams with various combinations of tendons and types ofrnmaterials.
