This paper describes the design of a scale-model test facility to determine in-tunnel trainrnskin drag. The approach is unique in that the scale is selected to make best use of modelrntrains for hobbyists. The detail of these trains is such that the individual componentsrnwhich determine train skin drag are faithfully replicated, thus enabling more accuraternskin drag measurements. Special attention is being given to Reynolds number scalingrnand the accuracy of the instrumentation.
