The filtration industry continues to expand the limits of technologies that efficientlyrnisolate fine particles and gases. As this development of new products has accelerated,rnindustry has maintained a parallel course of intellectual property protection. By focusingrnon these new technologies and patents, many customers have ignored establishedrntechnologies and failed to consider their many positive attributes. This paper will explorernseveral areas of need within the filtration/separations industry. Beginning with the mostrnobvious – highly selective systems, be they woven or non-woven followed by arndiscussion of the various media types. Finally we will spend a few minutes discussing thernenvironments and the expected process applications for the filtration systems that arernavailable today as well as provide a glimpse of tomorrow's new developments from bothrnfundamental work that is supported by the science-based agencies and ongoing industrialrndevelopment work.
