This paper will include a short overview of Dr .W. Laurence LePage, and will include his pioneering work with Haviland H. Platt, and the creation of the Platt-LePage Aircraft Company, and the events that led to their building the XR-1 helicopter. I will include an overview of the Platt-LePage Aircraft Co., and their XR-1, & XR-1 A, helicopters which were built for the first U.S. Military helicopter development program, and outline some of the difficulties the XR-1 program encountered, and show newly found information on Platt-LePage Aircraft and their postwar proposals. I will show never before seen drawings, photographs, and artist's renderings of the un-built Platt-LePage designs, along with the PL-9 twin engine transport that was built as the McDonnell XHJD-1, and give a complete listing of all recently uncovered design concepts, from the PL-4 "Gunship", to the PL-19 "Sky Crane".
