Telecommuting has been suggested as a viable solution to a range of workplace problems although it has not yet been fully embraced. One of the roadblocks to greater acceptance is the lack of understanding of its underlying impact on the work environment. The purpose of this study is to identify those factors most commonly reported as impacting telecommuting practices in the United States, with a particular emphasis on white collar productivity. Early findings suggest there is a need to identify other measurement techniques, and in particular for public sector organizations.
