The authors were involved in investigations of corrosion problems in Ammonia plant Waste HeatrnBoilers that had in common, that deposits on the water/steam side were noticed/involved in all cases.rnThe paper will give a brief description of the operating conditions for different designs and shortlyrnresume cases of corrosion in synloop Waste Heat Boilers (WHB) concerning location of the damages.rnThe potential sources of deposits, the analysis of potential causes and the remedies to avoidrnpremature failure will be discussed. Oxidation scale generated during Post Weld Heat Treatment andrnremedies to further boiler failures will be discussed based on actual inspection results.
