We consider an AWGN multiple access channel in which two correlated senders are encoded independently without any collaboration between them and transmitted to a common receiver. We show that by properly designing LDGM codes aiming at keeping the correlation between the codewords of the two users, it is possible to outperform the Shannon separation limit between source and channel coding. The joint decoder exploits the correlation between the senders by performing message passing in a graph jointly describing the correlation model and the channel codes.
