This paper focuses on determining the optimum transmission probability that maximizes the per-node throughput in a random wireless ad hoc network. The network self-interference is modeled as a Gaussian random variable which is equal to the sum of the interference from all other transmitting nodes. Given the path loss exponent η, node density λ, and the near field cut-off radius d_0, analytical throughput expressions are derived for three different scenarios - the AWGN channel, block Rayleigh faded channel with and without CSI at the transmitter. The transmit probabilities that maximize these throughputs are then determined.
