Anthropometric measurements were taken of healthy, pain-free sports female athletes, (n=7l). Body symmetry is used to assess the horse, but the same criterion is not applied to the human. Neuro-physiology suggests that one side of the body can have a more efficient nervous, muscular or cardiac system, (a reflection of asymmetrical neural control?). Anthropometric tables do not detail the differences of human symmetry. Using simple measuring devices, the two sides of the body were compared, weight & shape, standing & sitting. Descriptive statistics were employed (α=0.01). Unexpected results suggest that there are complex patterns of body shape/weight distribution with individuals having an unique -weight signature. Further research into performance of the human vehicle and the implications of functional anthropometries should be undertaken.
