摘要

Corrosion has always been recognized as one of the most serious problems affecting every core industrial sector, and the annual loss from corrosion is great. The sugar industry is the second largest agricultural processing industry in India, and is of considerable importance to the rural economies. In a sugar factory, there are many components that can undergo corrosion. The industry suffers big losses due to corrosion in the form of reduction in usable life of an equipment or machinery and also due to the unexpected failure; plants shut downs, product loss, contamination of the products and hazards to the human life. Scientists and technologists all over the world have been making extensive efforts to minimize this problem. In this paper, the problem of corrosion in sugar industries has been discussed, and a few measures have been discussed which can prove to be effective against corrosion.
