The four tomography methods have been developed according to the rectangular and triangular cell/grid parameterizations. In the formulations, it is particularly emphasized to guarantee the non-negative property of the matrix D. The property benefits the application of the weighting matrices constructed from the inversion information to stabilizing the tomographic solutions. For the respective parameterizations, the efficient developments of the corresponding ray tracing procedures have been given to make the ray tracing parameterization consist with the linear reconstruction one. The weighted least squares solution to tomography is obtained via conjugate gradient type algorithm. The use of these methods has been illustrated with a real example from cross-hole traveltime tomography experiment. The results based on the four parameterizations are little different, and are in good agreement with the field investigations. The velocity distribution in the cross-hole region provides an important insight into the object between the holes and is very useful for the post-work at the site.
