The one-dimensional Gaussian random rough surface with given rms height and correlation length is generated first, then the method of moments (MOM) is applied to calculate the angular correlation function (ACF) of scattered wave from it, and the memory line where the ACF has a high value can be obtained. Finally the ACF of the scattered wave from rough surface with a sphere on it is obtained using the same method and compared with the above result. From the comparison it can be concluded that the ACF can increase substantially when target exists, which presents an effective way for detecting targets on rough surface.
