In the context of severe resource consumption and environmental pollution, reducing the whole life cycle environmental impacts of hydraulic power chuck is a promising choice for sustainable development of manufacturing. Based on the life cycle assessment (LCA) method, this paper evaluates comprehensive environmental impact of hydraulic power chuck with the assistance of eFootprint software and conduct a sensitivity analysis to identify the key stages and factors. The LCA results showed that the whole life cycle resource depletion and environmental emissions of chuck mainly occurred in the use stage, and the power consumption in the use stage took the main responsibility for it. In chuck production stage, the most prominent environmental impact indicator is abiotic depletion potential (ADP) and the sensitivity of the material consumption is greater than that of the production power consumption. Furthermore, this study proposes some corresponding energy conservation and emission reduction strategies to promote the development of hydraulic power chuck.
