摘要

As a method to reduce collision accidents of ships on the sea,this paper suggests an expert system for collision avoidance and navigation (hereafter "ESCAN").The ESCAN is designed and developed by using theories of expert system technology and based on the information provided by AIS technology.In ESCAN,the knowledge of collision avoidance and other related fields is properly represented.The ESCAN is to make continuous analysis and judgments of meeting situations between own ship and targets in real-time,and to provide reasonable plans of collision avoidance when own ship is involved in collision risk.Moreover,with the help of advice and recommendation given by ESCAN,navigators can easily acknowledge each collision situation and improve their judgment of it.
