On the multi-functional experiment table manufactured by ourselves, many experiments were conducted on the granite and the concrete by applying the PDC and carbide alloy cutters such as the single cutting, the single impact and cutting-impact combined experiments. And then the dynamic and static parameters were measured in the whole experiment process. The experiment results show that: 1) the effect of the linear cutting was evidently increased with increasing of the static pressure and decreasing of rock strength; 2) the characteristics of breaking rock under the combined action are similar to that under the single static pressure or impact crushing the rock with changes of leap type; the specific energy of the rock fragment under combined mode is 2-3 times than that of linear cutting fragment. There was a superior value between the combined action of static and dynamic loads; 3) comparing the depth of linear cutting of granite without impact and that with impact under the same WOB, it is observed that the combination of cutting and impacting can greatly increase the rate of penetration in very hard rock, and the depth of rock breakage increases evidently with decreasing of impacting space or increasing of the impact frequency. Research on the method and effects for breaking the hard rock has the important theories and the realistic meaning.
