This paper deals with the investigation of the tensile shear strength of Inconel 600 tube welded with Inconel 690rnsleeve by the remote sleeve repair-welding technology using the pulsed Nd:YAG laser for increasing the lifetimernof the steam generator tube in the nuclear power plant. The Inconel 600 tube and Inconel 690 sleeve used for highrntemperature and high pressure service were welded as round lap welding by Nd:YAG laser. The relationshiprnbetween the connection width and welding parameters have been investigated for the fundamental research. It isrnobserved that the tensile shear strength, 340 MPa of the welded specimen is corresponded to about 60% of therntensile strength of the Inconel 600, 550MPa. The difference between the hardness in the base metal and that of thernlaser welds is shown to be about 10%. Ductile fracture is dominately occurred in the welds but the cracking hasrnnot been observed. In spite of absence of the crack, the tensile shear strength of welds is not sufficient.
