In this study, a series of three-point bending tests was carried out usingrnstabiliser and soda-lime glass specimens with various initial crack lengths.rnCrack extension during stable fracture was observed using video camera.rnNumerical simulations of three-point bending for soda-lime glass were alsornperformed. It was found that stable fracture was observed in the specimensrnwith crack length larger than χ_0 = 0.36 (χ_0 = α_0 /W, α0 : initial crack length, W :rnspecimen height). It was also observed in stable fracture that the stressrnintensity factor increases even after the maximum load. These were confirmedrnby the numerical simulations.
