The application of a fractal concept provides anrnuseful method in the study for the quantitativernanalysis of highly irregular fracture surfaces andrncrack profiles. We obtained the fractal dimension ofrnfracture crack profiles for STS316 CT specimens ofrntwo types as the crack advances and estimated thernrelationship between a fractal extension crack lengthrnand a fractal dimension. A fractal crack length canrnbe given by a modification of the equation ofrnRichardson. From the results, we concluded that therncrack profile of two types both specimens shows thernfractal characteristics, which can be used in order tornevaluate more precise prediction of a crack life. Andrnwe show that the fractal dimension in a non-siderngroove specimen is larger than that of the specimenrnwith side-groove.
