On behalf of the ASME-DED Technical Committee on Micro- and Nano-Systems it is our pleasure to welcome you to the eighth International Conference on Micro- and Nano-Systems (MNS) at the ASME IDETC 2014, held in Buffalo, NY. This conference is a unique venue for presenting and exchanging ideas on the design, applied mechanics, dynamic systems, and controls aspects of micro- and nano-systems and follows the first seven successful years of the conference in Las Vegas, New York, San Diego, Montreal, Washington, Chicago and Portland.
