This workshop/presentation will introduce attendees to the concepts and principals of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program and how they can be used in a healthcare providing organization as a systematic approach to focusing the total entity on achieving the highest possible level of performance. Key to the presentation is the fact Baldrige criteria are not another set of standards, tools or techniques to be applied to achieve short-term performance goals. Comparison will be made to ISO 9000 and JCAHO. As an outcome, attendees should be able to initially determine if their organization is seriously focusing on quality in all aspects of its operations.
