摘要

Turtle Creek Dam is located on the Big Blue River, in the Kansas River drainage basin, approximately 6 miles north of the City of Manhattan, Kansas in eastern Kansas. Construction of the project began in 1952 and reservoir filling was complete in 1963. Turtle Creek Lake covers approximately 12,500 surface acres at the multipurpose pool with over two million acre-feet of storage below the flood control pool. Congressionally authorized project purposes include: recreation; fish and wildlife; water supply; water quality; flood control; and supplemental releases for navigation.
