摘要

With the promulgation of the Clean Air Mercury Rule (CAMR) on March 15, 2005, electric utilities were required to monitor and control mercury emissions from the stacks of coal fired power plants. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia vacated CAMR on February 8, 2008, removing any federal regulations that require monitoring or control of mercury from electric generating units. In anticipation of the 2009 CAMR mercury monitoring compliance deadline, several utilities had already begun to install and operate mercury. This panel on 'Mercury Monitoring in the Power Generation Industry' will provide an update on monitoring regulatory compliance issues and insight into the installation and operating experiences of utilities that are currently using Appendix K (the sorbent trap method) and mercury CEMs. Several states have regulations in place that are more stringent than CAMR for mercury control, yet rely on CAMR for mercury monitoring. Speakers will discuss the anticipated impacts and implications of the Court ruling on mercury monitoring plans.Michael Corvese - Thermo Fisher ScientificMichael Corvese is the Product Line Manager for the Mercury Freedom System, responsible for development and implementation of marketing programs and sales strategies as well as management of the systems integration team. Over the last four years Mr. Marsh has been intimately involved with EPA's Clean Air Mercury Rule from the perspective on CEMS. He was closely involved in the EPA trials conducted by EPRI and RMB for the validation of Hg Monitoring Technology. As the Director of Marketing and Sales for Tekran Instruments he organized and developed one
