With the rapid development of economy in China recently, people have more leisure time and discretionary income, thus more leisure practices. Academically, the study of leisure has become increasingly popular as new terms like "leisure economy" and "leisure industry" as well as explanations for questions related to leisure study can be found frequently in media and discussion. However, few in-depth analysis and understanding of leisure have been made because of the pursuit of economic increase under utilitarianism. Many policy-makers and investors believe that there are and will be more chances to develop new markets with the development of leisure practices, just like the initiative development of tourism in the early 1980s. Some of them even want to develop "leisure cities" and "leisure regions" for the economic grow. What is the connotation of leisure? What are the features of leisure? What is the impact of leisure on the progression of civilization? Few studies and researches have been made to answer these questions. Obviously, it is necessary for us to know more about leisure.
