Although using sewers as an avenue for the installation of Fiber Optic Cabling is a rnrelatively new concept, there have been several major technological advances in the rninstallation process over the past year. This paper discusses the installation of conduits rnusing a robotically controlled process. The robotic installation process is further enhanced rnby the use of a cured-in-place lining rehabilitation system, of the host pipe, during rnplacement of the fiber conduit. When the installation has been completed the host rninfrastructure has been given a new life and the need to perform any disruptive rnexcavation for the installation of telecommunication cabling minimized.
