Experience Management (EM) as a sub-discipline of Knowledge Management (KM) deals with collecting, modeling, storing, reusing, evaluating, and maintaining experience knowledge, i.e., specific knowledge situated in a particular problem solving context. The Third German Workshop on Experience Management, initially held in the year 2001 as a event of the Special Interest Group on Knowledge Management, a fusion of the former Knowledge Management Group and the Special Interest Group on Case-Based-Reasoning, was focused on the development and integration of intelligent systems and methodologies for managing experience. Its aim was to provide an interdisciplinary forum where practitioners and researchers can exchange ideas concerning the development of EM systems, present practical experiences about the application of such systems, and discuss future research directions.
