Applications of biofuel cells are largely restricted by their low power output density, to which the performance of the biocatalysts in terms of activity, stability and electrical conductivity is the limiting factor in most cases. To address those issues, researchers have demonstrated substantial interests in recent years in nanostructured biocatalysts. By tailoring the surrounding environments of enzymes, people can develop 'nanobiocatalysts' with much improved stability and efficiency. In this chapter, the construction and use of composite electrodes based on enzyme-carbon nanotubes-Nafion~? for glucose-O_2 biofuel cell will be examined.
