摘要

Since the stress release in a tunnel’s surrounding soil mass is the overall result of shield driving,by analyzing it as a plane strain problem, the ground settlement can just be regarded as a consequence of the stress release. Because not only is the ground surface stress zero, but the stress at infinity is also zero according to Saint-Venant’s principle. Under the assumption that the stress release is axisymmetric, stresses in soil caused by excavation can be obtained by the solution for an infinite plate with a circular hole in the plane elasticity.Knowing stresses in soil, the radius of the plastic zone can be calculated according to the Mohr Coulomb Theory.In the case that the plastic radius of the vault is small in some value of a release of stress, the ground settlement curve equation can be derived from the solution of the infinite elastic plate.
