摘要

Structural planee is a key factor that affects the rock mass stability and the safety of engineering structures. The mechanical effects of weak structural planes in rock mass were studied with the thin-layer elements and modified stiffness matrix based on the finite element method. The constitutive relationship has been developed from shear stress and displacement instead of the traditional constitutive relationship, between the shear stress and the shear strain expressed by cohesion (C) and friction angle (ψ). The constitutive equations have been deduced and been verified in two cases.
