New deck design and new kinds of structures have been developed in order to increase the stability and the performances of super ong span bridges allowing very long spans which only some years ago were thought not to be reached. On the other hand, to reach these results, numerical and experimental methods must be available in order to assess the good performance of the bridge subjected to turbulent wind. The paper outlines the different solutions for controlling bridge stability and describes the different methods available for evaluating the response of the structure to turbulent wind.
