摘要

OTT Live streaming is a challenging task. Evenwith the best infrastructure, there are many factors thatcannot be controlled.Luckily, most of these factors can be identified and measured.Would it be possible to mitigate their influence or, evenbetter, use them in our own benefit?Using application layer overlay networks, it is possible toimprove the QoE while reducing the streaming costs up to99%. These techniques can be exploited to define new andoptimized network topologies for live video contentdistribution, but it needs to be done in a smart way. It iscrucial to have a deep knowledge of the network conditions,as well as an efficient algorithm.In this contribution we introduce several methodologies thatallow reaching these objectives, and we providemeasurements taken in realistic conditions that validate theproposed approach.
