Infrared Thermography (IR) for nondestructive testing (NDT) is introduced including considerations on infrared detectors and experimental set-up. Fundamentals of both active and passive approaches are provided with discussion about: pulsed, step heating, modulated (lockin), and vibrothermography. Advantages and weaknesses are presented as well as some applications for material investigation (in aluminum, graphite epoxy, ceramics).
