This paper gives the experimental analysis results of added secondary flow influenceon the operating characteristics of the radial turbomachines. The secondary flow isadded at the impeller entrance through the guide system, which ends with the circleringat the impeller intake diameter nearby the impeller front shroud. The guide vanesare set in the circle-ring guide system in the direction of the intake pipe axis. Theyassure the axial symmetrical non-whirl secondary flow at the impeller intake. Theatmospheric, meaning non-force driven secondary flow loading is performed with thevolute guide system placed at the entrance of the circle-ring guide system. Based onthe presented experimental results, it can be concluded that the secondary flowfavourably influences on the operating characteristic of the radial impellers (13 < nq <35). The stable operating area increases in the direction of the small operatingcapacities (thus giving the possibility of wider pump regulation). At the same time theoverall efficiency is increased, especially in the area of the small, and under optimalcapacities.
