As disinfection by-products have carcinogenic effects for liver, kidney and digestive system, and have adverse effects on human health, so formation and control of DBPs in drinking water has attracted more and more attention of researchers and common people. Taking polluted raw water of Erlongshan reservoir for the study, through the beaker experiment to study results of removal of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and control of DBPs trihalomethanes (THMs) by pre-oxidation processes (Potassium permanganate + liquid chlorine). Using three types of resin (XAD-7 、AG-MP-50 、WA-10),DOM was fractionated into 6 fractions : hydrophobic acid (HPOA),hydrophobic base (HPOB), hydrophobic neutral (HPON), hydrophilic acid (HPIA), hydrophilic base (HPIB), hydrophilic neutral (HPIN ).The results indicated that: trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP)of the 6 fractions was decreased significantly .The THMs yields with combined pre-oxidation was reduced 55.19% than with prechlorination. the combined preoxidation by chlorine and Potassium permanganate could reduce the THMs yields efficiently.
