摘要

In Japan, mobile phones which are available for inter-net communication (expressed as 'net mobile phone ' in following sentences) are used over 50 million. Recently, some kinds of net mobile phone have a function for GPS positioning. This proposal is to use this most popular communication equipment for navigational aids off the coast. The authors show that a net mobile phone is useful as a means of communication, positioning and display for navigational aids. Characteristics of net mobile phone from this point of view are explained. Some examples of provided information are also shown. The availability of net mobile phone as terminal equipment of LAN in the vessel is mentioned and surveillance system for a person falling off a vessel is proposed. Furthermore, to install a function of access point for mobile phone on a rescue vessel is offered, new rescue system is proposed.
