Heat exchangers for cooling CO_2-water vapor mixtures at coal-fired power plants withcarbon capture will be needed both upstream of the CO_2 compressors and in-between compressorstages. Some will be required to operate at low pressures and others at pressures above the CO_2critical point. In some applications, the heat exchangers will be used to condense highconcentrations of water vapor from the CO_2 stream. This paper describes some of the importantheat transfer and water vapor condensation characteristics of heat exchangers for processinggaseous CO_2 in carbon capture applications.
