In the present paper, we describe the development of a laboratory scale delayed coker andrnpresent results of an investigation on the recovered liquid from the coking of decant oil andrndecant oil/coal mixtures. One of the major achievements of this coker design is the ability tornisolate coke artifacts essentially intact rather than isolating fragments caused by physicalrndamage during isolation. Using gc/ms, a study was made of the chemical composition of therndistillate liquids isolated from the overhead during the coking or co-coking process. Therndifferences between coking decant oil and co-coking decant oil with coal will be discussed.
