The use of water in ducts for installing cables is well known. But "floating" or "flowing" is not widely used around the world, and particularly in France. This technique is reproached for its huge water consumption and thus is often criticised. The research centre of France Telecom, CNET, has brought new developments to this technique and, step by step, has managed to avoid the disadvantages in order to keep its advantages: exceptional length of cable installation.
