In this paper we have concluded the facts that explicitly explain the stripping mechanism of the 250#mu#m optical fiber's strip force profiles. Normal strip force is determined by two main factors. One is the measuring parameter during test, such as the types of the strip tool, the sizes of cutting blade, and rates of stripping. The other factor is the characteristics of the fiber coating. They include the polymer coating's original material properties such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio of primary and secondary coatings, the geometry of fiber's structure and the environmental effects such as temperature, humidity, and jelly compatibility. All the effects will affect the coating's properties and the adhesion between the polymer coating and glass fiber. As a result, by understanding the mechanism of stripping profile, and carefully interpret the strip force experimental result, the strip force can be a simple and convenient tool to examine the mechanical stability of optical fiber.
