Based on the current official statistics channel, the index system for monitoring quality of life for an urban resident in China has been constructed by integrating four sub systems: physical life, spiritual life, social environment and natural environment. Verification of this system has been done using data on Shang Hai and Si Chuan, as well as the national average obtained through cross section analysis and time series analysis. The results are consistent with what we feel in life. Therefore, conclusions are drawn: the index system constructed is scientific, workable, and easy to use for monitoring the quality of an urban resident's life.
