Under the current economic crisis, it is important to analyze the change of industrial value added. This paper uses Principal Component Analysis as a way to extract and simplify the original variables. The new variables do not only retain the essence reflected by the original variables, but also make the study better focus on the characteristics of the variables. We used three principal components extracted from the nine industrial value added indicators, and the result of analysis shows that different industry have different growth on industrial value added and industrial value added,s general scores and ranks of nine provinces at January to December 2009. The analysis on the industrial value added plays an active role in adjusting industrial structure of Chinese province.
