The worldwide energy regulation has been accelerated in the refrigeration and air conditioning field.Because conventional compressor reaches its limit of performance,so capacity modulation technology is needed.Inverter compressor using frequency modulation has high cost and driver input power,so mechanical capacity modulation compressor was brought out in the reciprocating compressor for refrigeration.This compressor, named TCM compressor,which has two capacity modes such as full capacity mode(hereafter power mode)and partial capacity mode(hereafter saving mode)corresponding to surrounding loads,modulates its capacity through suction volume control using different dead volume in each mode.In order to the change dead volume, the eccentric sleeve(hereafter E/sleeve)is used instead of existing concentric sleeve.In each mode,E/sleeve has to maintain desired position to produce demanded cooling capacity,they call it latching technology,and it is essential to realize capacity modulation.If the position of E/sleeve does not be maintained,input power as well as capacity varies and leads to unsatisfactory cooling function.In this paper,latching system design and latching reliability were investigated through dynamic analysis.
