Attention is involved in the process of selection that is especially crucial in the establishment of flexible, adaptive behavior: We present an attentive visual system, induced by the hypothetical cortical neural network consisting of anterior, frontal and parietal regions. The network reveals initial behavior that generates attention-demanding process and attention modulation which emerges as a new behavior. As a result, each behavior leads to various visual experiences, developing motion-selectivity columns to exist in visual cortex. In addition, we postulate different attention classes which are calculated as hidden parameters in the cortical neural network, and each attention class can thus be used for selecting purposes.
