摘要

This paper presents a robust OCR system designed to improve readability of partially damaged characters on silicon wafers that usually occur during semiconductor processes. The system operates on the gray-level images of the wafers grabbed by a CCD camera. The system works with little restriction on character location and background as segmentation and template matching are done automatically. The system also has the unique feature that each character font is mapped to match its template through a non-linear weighting scheme. The combination proves to be very successful in improving software readability for partially damage characters.
