In today's multi-tiered mass server infrastructures, it is highly desirable to be able to provide capacity reports in a timely, proactive and cost effective manner. This paper presents a methodology for producing a level one automated capacity planning report for a large heterogeneous distributed systems server population. The paper describes the forecasting techniques employed to generate the report and the capacity planning process that it supports.
